# Property as system of record

A **company-scoped property** (and its units) is the record other
modules hang off. That is the opposite of a lead CRM with a property
field, and the opposite of a portal advert with no inventory.

## Rules

- Create inventory before you publish.
- Sale listing inquiries become Sales leads on that company.
- Rent listings collect applications in Leasing.
- Maintenance tickets attach to a property or unit.
- Projects may link a job to a property; they are still construction
  records, not tickets.
- The company listing site publishes from this inventory. Showcase
  pages pick properties or projects; they do not create a second catalog.
- Investment offers link to a company property. Distributions pay
  through Finance wallets, not through a closing engine.
